Transferring users between workgroups
As an Enterprise administrator of an Objective Connect Enterprise edition with multiple workgroups, you are able to transfer users between workgroups.
Note: In this section "old workgroup" denotes the user's current workgroup and "new workgroup" denotes the workgroup to which the user is transferred.
- Enable the supported action TRANSFER_USER in the install.xml properties file.
-
In Objective Connect, as a Workgroup or Enterprise administrator, transfer the workspaces the user (whom you intend to transfer to the new workgroup) owns to another user in the old workgroup.
Note: Transferring ownership of workspaces to another member within the current workgroup is recommended, but not mandatory, as workspaces are not moved between workgroups when members are transferred.
- In Objective Connect as an Enterprise administrator, transfer the user to the new workgroup using the option.
-
In Objective ECM, transfer the user from one Objective Connect Link installation to another.
When the user is transferred from the old workgroup, its Objective Connect Link will log errors while synchronising that user. You can ignore these errors as it is the expected behaviour. Additionally, you need to make the following user changes in Objective ECM:
- When the user is transferred to a workgroup on the same Objective ECM installation for the new workgroup, the Objective ECM administrator will need to:
- Remove the user from the old Objective Connect Link's ConnectSpace extender and add the user to the new Objective Connect Link's ConnectSpace extender.
- Ensure the user has adequate permissions to share.
- When the user is transferred to a workgroup on a different Objective ECM installation for the new workgroup, the Objective ECM administrator will need to:
- Create an Objective ECM user with the same email.
- Ensure that the user has adequate permissions to share.
The user can then log into Objective ECM and share containers through Objective Connect Link.
- When the user is transferred to a workgroup on the same Objective ECM installation for the new workgroup, the Objective ECM administrator will need to:
Tip: Step 3 can be done before Step 2.
